The department is concerned with safeguard of forest resources and enrich biodiversity through implementation of scientific management practices within the ambit of policies, acts and rules in vogue.

The goal of the department on the one hand, is to comply the National Forest Policy and on the other manage optimally the resources for the benefit of the people and their environment as a whole.
