The Welfare Department in the State of Jharkhand, which was created on 15th November, 2000, has an important role to play in planning and implementation of schemes for the welfare of the Scheduled Caste, Tribes and other Backward Classes including the Minorities. With a population composed of 26.30% Scheduled Tribes, 11.84% Scheduled Caste and a large Minority section including the Backward Classes,the onus of bringing about all around development is the primary concern of Department.
