There are fifteen Engineering Colleges in Jharkhand with total intake at under graduate level about 3700 students in different disciplines. Out of which are one Deemed University BIT Mesra Ranchi, one state Government Institute BIT Sindri Dhanbad, three centrally funded institutes ISMU Dhanbad, NIT Jamshedpur, NIFFT Ranchi, and three institutes in joint sector BIT Extension center Deoghar, UCE Hazaribagh, DAV Daltonganj, seven institutes in private sector. Three new coming up engineering colleges under government sector at Ramgarh, Chaibasa and Dumka. Their civil works are under progress.

Under the TEQUIP phase -1, BIT Mesra, BIT Sindri, were selected for Quality Improvement Programme and TEQUIP phase -1 has been completed successfully. Under the TEQUIP phase -II, more institutes will be included.
