Achievements during Xth Plan (upto Oct, 2005)

 
  • Creation of mandays - 489 lakhs during 1st, 3 years of Xth plan.
  • Block Plantations - 1,61,692 ha. or 1,616 sq. kms.
  • No. of saplings planted - 21.03 crores.
  • Road side Plantations along 993.5 kms have been completed.
  • Under urban forestry 83,444 gabion plantations has ben done.
  • 'Nakshtra Van' and 'Sidhu Kanhu Park' have been constructed in Ranchi.
  • Research nurseries at Ranchi, Latehar and Dumka have been created. Vegetative propagation of bamboo for better yield and fast growth is being experimented.
  • Approximately 2,50,000 root trainer plants are being produced from Ranchi Research Nursery every year.
  • Approximately 30,000 grafts of Amla are being prepared every year from each research nursery. Mother Plants of Amla have been procured mainly from Acharya Narendra Deo University, Faizabad.
  • Arboretum in 5 ha area is being established in the research nursery at Ranchi. The aim of this arboretum is to plant different species of flora which are naturally occuring in Jharkhand. Nearly 50 species have been planted so far.
  • Rs. 200.499 lakhs have been spent on the habitat improvement in elephant reserve and eco - development of surrounding villages.
  • Under India Eco - Development Project in Palamau Tiger Project 55 check dams, 25 causeways, 236 wells and 179 tanks have been created, 146 hand pumps have been installed, 93 pedal pumps, 330 sewing machines, 1,115 L.P.G. connections and 276 Solar lanterns have been distributed. Six wells and 5 tanks have been constructed in Mahuadanr Sanctuary and 7 wells and 2 tanks have been created in Dalma Sanctuary.
  • A fund of Rs 1,04,96,682 has been created as village development fund under India Eco - development Project.
  • Rs. 428.50 lakhs have been paid as compensations against death due to wildlife animals.
  • Jharkhand State Forest Development Corporation has collected 13.705 lakhs standard bag of kendu leaf, 403.1 MT of sal seed, 138.3 MT of mahua seeds, 190.7 MT of mahulan leaves. The Corporation has spent Rs 5,783.69 lakhs on wages creating 89.00 lakhs mandays.

  • Irrigation facilities created over 5000 acres of agricultural land in Latehar and Garhwa districts.
  • Under FAO aided World Food Programme following are the achievements.
  • 4,960 MT of wheat; 1,457 MT of rice; 358 MT pulse; and 1.019 MT S.S. oil have been distributed amongst the labourers.
  • With the help of NGO's 523 Self Help Groups have been established in Ranchi and Lohardanga districts. It is benefiting 9,653 poor backward women. There Self Help Groups have made a saving of Rs. 90 lakhs and have received micro - credit of Rs. 561 lakhs from revolving loan fund created by WEP.
  • In 82 selected villages following works have been completed through Forest Department.
